So, what can you do to aid your online presence? It’s a question with a lot of possible answers. Below, I’ve listed a couple of the main, essential steps you’ll have to take to get your business found by the vast online audience. So what are you waiting for?!
Step 1: Networking, Connections And Advertising
It’s 2016, and there have never been more ways to connect with consumers and other businesses. This starts with basic connection building and networking. Ensure your business is present on all the main social media platforms. Each has its own unique audience, and you risk losing a particular demographic if you stick to just one.
Secondly, reach out to other similar businesses and blogs and ask for a collaboration. Guest blogging is becoming increasingly more popular, and it allows you to get exposed to another blog’s audience. If they like you, they’ll check you out in return!
Finally, weigh up your advertising options. If your budget allows, utilise clever online marketing to play to your target audience. For example, if you’re a sports business, try and get your ads displayed on football or tennis websites. Play to your strengths, and don’t market yourself into a corner.

One of the main reasons businesses fail is poor management. This could be poor time management, resource management or money management. Fortunately, there is a way to keep all three in check! Tell them your Twitter handle, and your web address.
Also, if your online names don’t reflect your business name, change them. It could be stopping people from finding you. For example, if your business is called ‘Jones & Smith Construction’ your URL and social profiles should be something like:

- URL: jonesandsmithconstruction.com
- Facebook: Jones & Smith Construction
- David Jones and Daniel Smith
The latter three terms aren’t as clear as the former three. Consider unifying your web presence to make it more accurate. Think about what people will type in a search bar when they look for you, and go with that.
